Albert Stewart, Sr.

Blacksburg — Albert Gene Stewart, Sr., 63, of 200 W. Carolina St., Apt. 4D, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Boiling Springs, N.C., he was the husband of Debbie Mason Stewart and son of the late Johnny Paul Stewart and Eitude Crane Stewart. He retired from the Philadelphia Eagles Security Organization, was a U. S. Marines Vietnam War veteran, played Santa Claus at Christmas and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Albert Gene Stewart, Jr. of the home; two daughters, Erica Mason (Robert Zaremski) of Philadelphia, Pa., and Madison Schwartz of St Petersburg, Fla.; three brothers, Titus Stewart of Roebuck, John T. Starnes and wife, Suzanne of North Carolina and Richard Starnes of North Carolina; three sisters, Cindy Parris (Tony Colon), Ann Putman, and Jane Powell and husband, Wayne, all of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Aidan, Cole and Zander; fourteen nieces and nephews; and seventeen great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Daisy Marie Quinn.

The family received friends from 3 until 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorial services immediately followed at 4 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating.

The family will be at the residence, 200 W. Carolina St., Apt. 4D, Blacksburg.
