Blacksburg Wildcats overwhelmed by high-scoring Keenan

Blacksburg boys coach Danny Ham knew it was important to stay close to Keenan to have a chance to pull the upset.

But Keenan never gave the Wildcats that chance.

Keenan jumped to a 14-0 lead and never looked back in an 89-31 win in an opening round Class 2A playoff game on Wednesday.

Dre Green led the Wildcats in scoring. Blacksburg ends the season at 14-9.

“They are one of the best teams in the state,” Ham said.

The playoff loss doesn’t diminish this team’s accomplishments.

Unranked at the start of the season, the Wildcats finished in a 3-way tie for the region championship and rose to No. 7 in the state.
