Pacolet, S.C. — Gary Gene Cooper, 61, formerly of 1608 Asbury Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Mary Black Health System Gaffney.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Theresa White Cooper and son of the late Francis Hord Cooper and Peggy Self Cooper Messer and stepson of the late Melvin Messer. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and Spartanburg Community College, was formerly employed in textiles and a member of North East Fellowship Church of God. He loved riding 4-wheelers, camping, cooking NASCAR, especially Tony Stewart and was an avid Clemson Tigers fan.
The family would like to express special thanks to Brookview Healthcare and Mary Black Health System-Gaffney.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Diane Cooper Parker (Tom Leuck) of Gaffney; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Matthew (Spanky) Burris officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
The family will be at the home of Glenn & Nettie White, 743 Corinth Road, Gaffney.
