Peach Festival New Talent Night winners

There was a great night of entertainment at the annual South Carolina Peach Festival New Talent Night held Thursday, July 13 at Limestone College’s Fullerton Auditorium. The event is sponsored by the Blacksburg Rotary Club.

In the under 15 age category, first place went to 12-year-old Allie Byars from Duncan, S.C. She sang “My Church” by Marren Morris and won a cash prize of $100. Second place and a $50 award went to 5-year-old Paisleigh Gordon of Blacksburg. She performed a monologue from “The Story of Moana.”

Jennifer Traub of Gaffney took first place in the 15 and older age category and the $100 prize. She sang “Somebody’s Always Saying Goodbye.” Second place and a $50 award was won by Zoe Hurst from Gaffney. She sang “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys.

Featured entertainment were the 2016 New Talent winners - Macy Crawford from Saluda, S.C. and Emily Schultz from Easley, S.C.

The Blacksburg Rotary Club uses proceeds from the event to fund their annual scholarship program. A new feature for this year’s competition was the People’s Choice Award. Attendees were asked to donate a penny a vote for their favorite contestant in the under 15 age category.

The People’s Choice Award went to Allie Byars. Funds raised from the People’s Choice also help fund the scholarship program.
