Foster, Davidson off to a bit of slow start

Former Gaffney stars and teammates Hyleck Foster and Shaq Davidson are off to a bit of a slow start this season.

Through two games, Foster has one catch for 11 yards for the Marshall Thundering Herd, who are 1-1 after Saturday’s 37-20 loss to N.C. State.

He was moved to wideout last season when he had 15 catches for 74 yards. He also rushed the ball for 291 yards on 68 yards for an average of 4.3 yards a game.

Marshall opened with a 31-26 win over Miami of Ohio.

Davidson was shutout in Jacksonville State’s 37-10 loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday, but he had a big day in the win over Chattanooga when he had two catches for 62 yards, including a 59-yard touchdown bomb.

Former Gaffney running back Jordon “Debo” Shippy has rushed for 65 yards on eight carries for Tusculum, which are 1-1 and will face Limestone at The Reservation on Saturday.

Shippy also has one catch for seven yards.

In the Pioneers’ 39-12 win over Shorter on Saturday, Shippy had 32 yards on four carries, including a long run of 24 yards.
