Mary H. Bratton

Gaffney, S.C. — Mary Humphries Bratton, 83, of 128 Stacy Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late James Edward Bratton and daughter of the late Roland Humphries and Laura Allison Humphries. She was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School in North Carolina and retired from textiles. She loved traveling, especially to the beach and mountains, and was a member of New Heights Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Eddie L. Bratton of the home and R. Scott Bratton of Gaffney; two sisters, Louise Bartee of Mooresboro, NC and Annie Mae Bridges of Boiling Springs, NC; a sister-in-law, Lois R. Humphries of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Lora Fowler, Chris Bratton and Zachary Marksberry. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, R. C. Humphries and Kirk Humphries, and three sisters, Lucille Humphries, Edna Stroupe and Joyce H. Wilkie.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sidney Norton and Dr. Wayne Brown officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: New Heights Baptist Church, 1367 Pleasant School Road, Gaffney, SC 29341.

The family will be at the residence, 128 Stacy Drive, Gaffney.
