Gaffney police seeking murder suspect

Arrest warrant issued in Nov. 9 shooting death

The City of Gaffney Police Department announced Monday afternoon it has issued an arrest warrant for a Gaffney man accused of murder.

Shecky Lamar Tate, 34, of Hetty Hill Street, is wanted by Gaffney police investigators in connection to the Nov. 9 shooting death of Sametra Dawkins, 30, of Overbrook Drive, Gaffney Police Chief Rick Turner announced.

Police were called to the 200 block of Overbrook Drive at approximately 9 p.m. Nov. 9 regarding a report of shots fired and found Dawkins. Paramedics and other first responders were called ot the scene but Dawkins had died.

Anyone with information about Tate or his whereabouts is asked to contact Gaffney police or 9-1-1.
