James Nathan Elliott

Gaffney, S.C. — James Nathan Elliott, 87, formerly of 916 Providence Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of the late Betty Painter Elliott and son of the late Walter Elliott and Rosa Nance Elliott. He retired from Musgrove Mill and loved working on tractors. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he was also a member of the Business Men’s Sunday School Class.

Surviving are two sons, Ed Elliott and wife, Nancy, and Freddie Elliott and wife, Gloria, both of Gaffney; a daughter, Nancy Sarratt and husband, Raymond, of Gaffney; a sister, Ruth Cole of Temple, TX; four grandchildren, Jennifer Mathis and husband, Matt, Erin Hogue and husband, Grady, Justin Sarratt and wife, Stefanie, and Julie Press and husband, Jeremy; five greatgrandchildren, Andrew Mathis, Ansley Mathis, Emma Hogue, Reagan Hogue and Emily Press. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Wade Elliott, Herbert Elliott, Walter Elliott, Jr. and Clarence Elliott and five sisters, Ethel Elliott, Ruby Ledford, Pearl Phillips, Millie McCraw and Alice Wright.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Magnolia’s of Gaffney and DCI Dialysis Clinic of Gaffney.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Scott Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
