John Allison

Gaffney, S.C. — John Arthur Allison, 79, of 634 5th Street, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Ruben Arthur Allison and Ollie Pace Allison. He retired from textiles, loved hunting, fishing and whittling and was a member of Salvation Army Church.

Surviving are a brother, Cotton Allison and wife, Margie of Gaffney; two sisters, Verle Henderson and husband, Marvin, and Mamie Cooper and husband, Junior, both of Gaffney; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walt Allison and Jake Allison and a sister, Elizabeth Waters.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Blakely Funeral Home.

Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Major James Allison officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Salvation Army Church, 601 Colonial Avenue, Gaffney, SC 29340.

The family will be at the residence, 634 5th Street, Gaffney, SC 29340.
