Pacolet, S.C. — Ernest Austell Johnson, 78, of 2935 Cowpens Pacolet Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Lynne Johnson and son of the late Forrest Johnson and Viola Munn Johnson. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School, formerly worked for Clarkson Brothers, and retired from Tidewater Transit. He was a disabled U.S. Army veteran, loved music, playing guitar, traveling, and small engine repair. He was a charter member of Silica Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Mark Parris and wife, Donna, of Pacolet; a daughter, Diane Fuller and husband, Michael, of Pacolet; a sister, Nellie Henson of Blacksburg, four grandchildren, Ashley Lee and husband, Lance, Devin Fuller, Emily Parris and Will Parris; two great-grandchildren, Walker Lee and Theodore Brackins; a special nephew, Harley Brackins and numerous other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Silica Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Silica Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Elder, Rev. Lynn Ford and Evangelist Sidney Weaver officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Pacolet First Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Silica Springs Baptist Church, 2032 Pacolet Highway, Gaffney, SC 29340.

The family will be at the residence, 2935 Cowpens Pacolet Road, Pacolet.
