Grads earn $13.6 million in scholarships

Blacksburg and Gaffney High senior classes graduated Thursday with $13.6 million in college scholarship money. Scholarships offered to the Gaffney High Class of 2016 are valued at $10,350,850 over a 4- year period. Blacksburg High graduates were offered $3,296,531. More than 100 church youngsters were treated to a pizza party by My Downtown Gaffney with an ice cream bar and games Wednesday in the parking lot beside the Michael Gaffney cabin. The volunteer appreciation event was held to thank the participants who helped clean up the downtown in a community service project during Impact weekend in March.
