Florence Moore

Gaffney, S.C. — Florence Hoke Moore, 86, formerly of 208 Crestview Drive, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Peachtree Centre.

Born in Blacksburg, she was the widow of the late O. Randolph Moore and daughter of the late Frederick Moorehead (Ted) Hoke and Ruth Vandiver Hoke. She was a 1949 graduate of Blacksburg High School, a graduate of Anderson Memorial Hospital Nursing Program and a 1970 graduate of Limestone College. She was a registered nurse, working with the Cherokee County Schools for over 31 years. She also served as a nurse for the migrant program for five years in the 1970’s. She loved reading, baking pies, quilting, performing in plays with The Gaffney Little Theatre, and learning a new word every day. She was a member of Buford Street United Methodist Church. She loved her family and her Church.

Surviving are a son, Michael Randolph Moore and wife, Donna H., of Gaffney; two daughters, Cindy Moore Legare and husband, Ned, of Wadmalaw Island, S.C., and Carol Moore Moss and husband, Eddie, of Gaffney; a sister, Tedi Gibbons and husband, Bill, of Gaffney; six grandchildren, Daniel Moss and wife, Melanie, Andrew Moss, Benjamin Legare, Kendall Moore, Brandon Moore and wife, Cassie, and Mallory Moore; four great-grandchildren, Sayde Moss, Ollie Moss, R.J. Jefferies and Kayson Moody; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Elliott.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Regency Hospice for their love and care.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Buford Street United Methodist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the Church with Rev. Jim Johnston and Rev. Greg Loskoski officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Buford Street United Methodist Church, 120 E. Buford Street, Gaffney, SC 29340 or Regency Hospice, 818 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.

The family will be at the home of Eddie & Carol Moss, 107 Gentle Lane, Gaffney.
