Harvey Guy Kelley

 

 

Spartanburg, SC — Harvey Guy Kelley, of Spartanburg passed away peacefully at the Hospice House on Sunday, April 24, 2022 surrounded by loving family members. He fought a courageous battle of cancer and he is healed and with his Lord and Savior. He was 70 years old.

Harvey is the devoted husband of Vickie Smith Kelley. The couple would have celebrated their 40th anniversary this year. Amongst his greatest joys of spending time with Vickie, was being a father to his son, Nathan J. Kelley of Cowpens and a grandfather (Papa) to two grandsons, Luke Kelley (Kristy) and the late Johnathan Kelley.

Harvey is the son of the late Levi Walter Kelley, Sr. and Joyce Maedell Guy Kelley. He is brother to William and Karen Kelley of Johnsonville, SC, Levi and Joy Kelley of Pacolet, SC, Tom and Jeannie Kelley Wimmer of Maryland, and the late Joyce Parris Kelley.

He was a treasured brother-in-law to Ralph (deceased) and Rachel Brooks, Bill (deceased) and Sandy Walker, Roger and Lois Reynolds all of Chesnee, Steve and Sheila Abbott of Cowpens, Roddy and Judy Hall, and Ed and Susan Spires of Spartanburg. He was a respected and loved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Harvey honorably served his country in the U.S. Army for four years in the Vietnam Era. He retired from Parker-Hannifin Corporation after 30 years of service. Harvey was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church of Cowpens, where he served in the music ministry.

His hobbies included photography, playing music, camping, fishing and boating. His laughter and fun loving personality lifted our spirits. It was his genuine love for others and humility that are counted as his greatest attribute.

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Cowpens with Pastor Steven Griffith, Pastor Jerry Starnes and Pastor Dennis Burger officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:00 pm. Interment will be in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
