James Henry

Cowpens, SC — James Henry, 79, of 3813 Old Georgia Highway, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Born in Erwin, Tennessee, he was the husband of Earlene Smiley Henry and son of the late John Alvin Henry and Mary Elizbeth Holland Henry. He retired from construction and was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. He loved his family, loved to build things and NASCAR, especially Richard Petty.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, Mike Henry (Amy), Roy Alvin Henry (Lisa), William Christopher Henry (Linda) and Steve Henry (Libby), all of Cowpens; four brothers, Sam Henry of Cowpens, Gabriel Henry (Mae) of Gaffney, Daniel Henry of Moore and Wayne Harris (Lisa) of Gaffney; two sisters, Gina Norris of Gaffney and Janet Morales of Cowpens; four grandchildren, Heather Donaghy (Bradley), Amanda Henry, Matthew Henry and Dustin Henry (Janna); four great-grandchildren, Paisley-Mae, Saylee-Ann, Laken Jakk and Ezra Leland; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Syble Moore and three brothers, Zeke Henry, Johnny Henry and Bobby Harris.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at White Plains Baptist Church with Reverend Kenneth Cash and Dr. Ron Culbertson officiating. Interment will be in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
