Hickory Grove – Joseph Lowry Love, 72, of Hickory Grove, SC passed away on Saturday April 15, 2023 at Spartanburg Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Fellowship Building. The funeral service will start at 3 pm in the church with Rev. Beth Drennon officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Hickory Grove, SC.
Lowry was born on November 30, 1950 in York, SC. He was the son of the late Joe Frank Love and Betty Louise Watson Love. He received a bachelor of science degree from Clemson University. Lowry was retired from Cherokee County as the recreation director and was also an active member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Hickory Grove, SC. Lowry was a former member and president of the Gaffney Jaycees, and a JCI Senator. He served on the South Carolina Peach Festival Board of Governors for many years.
He is survived by his wife Renee Clayton Love, his children Leslie Morgan Cole (Kyle), and Joseph Lowry Love, II (Kisten). Also, his grandchildren Abigail Love and Kylie Cole and his siblings Peggy Love Dickson and Frank Watson Love (Terry). In addition to his parents Lowry was also preceded in death by his brotherin law Tommy Dickson.
