Limestone sees six earn All-America status in 2023 NCAA outdoor track and field finalsFree Access



PUEBLO, Colo.- The Limestone University men’s track and field team left its mark on the 2023 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Pueblo, Colo. on May 25-27. The Saints garnered All-American status in six events, highlighted by a 3rd-place performance in the triple jump.

Senior Lloyd McCurdy (Georgetown, Guyana) provided the highlight of the weekend, placing 3rd in the triple jump event to become First-Team All-American for the second consecutive season. McCurdy leaped 15.88 meters (52′-1¼”) on his third attempt, increasing his school record in the process. Papay Glaywulu of Adams State took home the top-spot with a distance of 16.15 meters, followed by Academy of Arts’ Yacouba Gnacko at 15.90 meters.

The 4x400m relay team, graduate student Hakeem Allen (Pageland, S.C.), graduate student Javaris Michael (Warner Robins, Ga.), sophomore Evan Wells (Duluth, Ga.), and junior Che’ Lara (La Horquetta, Trinidad), garnered First-Team All-American honors after placing 8th in the 4x400m finals with a time of 3:09.31 seconds. Senior Kurt Modeste (Grenville, Grenada) and graduate student William Gray (Suffolk, Va.) also received First-Team All-American honors in the 4x400m relay for their efforts in the preliminary round.

Limestone’s 4x100m relay team, consisting of Michael, Wells, Modeste, and graduate student Mikale Hart (Fort Valley, Ga.), garnered First-Team All-American honors with a 6th-place finish in the 4x100m finals. The quartet reached the finals with a school record performance of 39.60 seconds in the opening round.

Modeste’s incredible weekend also included First- Team All-American status in the 200m dash. The senior placed 8th in the event with a time of 20.84 seconds. He qualified for the finals after setting a school record of 20.67 seconds in the opening round. Modeste also received Second-Team All-American honors in the 100m dash, placing 11th with a time of 10.43 seconds.

Gray earned Second-Team All-American recognition in the 110m hurdles event.
