Thomas Corry


 

 

Master Chief Thomas Clarence Corry, U.S. Navy (Retired), age 79, of Oxford, MD, passed away Monday, May 22nd, in MD.

He was born in Cherokee County, SC and was a son of the late Mozelle Hill Corry Tate and the late Isaac Corry.

Thomas was a 1962 graduate of Granard High School. Early in life, he joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Gaffney. After making his home in Maryland, he became a member of New Macedonia Baptist Church. He was also active in Young and Motivated Ministries, Inc. of Washington D.C.

Thomas joined the U.S. Navy and attained the rank of Master Chief. After retirement, he became an ROTC teacher in Maryland.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Harper Corry; a son, Anthony Corry; and a brother, William Corry.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: a daughter, Keesha Speight, of Temple Hills, MD; a son, Lamar Corry (Sylvia), of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Julia Hare, of Charlotte, and Betty Armour, of Atlanta, GA; several grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Alfreda Corry, of Gaffney,

 

 

Nadine Hailu and Straucey Gillison (William), of Washington, DC; other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 10th, in New Macedonia Baptist Church, 415 Alabama Ave., S.E., Washington, D.C. Military Honors and Interment will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.

Ronald Taylor, II Funeral Home in Washington, D.C. is serving the family.
