A former Blacksburg public works director was arrested Thursday by S.C. Law Enforcement Division agents on an embezzlement charge involving more than $4,000 in town funds. North Carolina man dies in Wednesday crash

A North Carolina man died following a Wednesday evening motor vehicle accident on Rutherfordton Highway. Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler identified the victim as Flay Ronald Lovelace, 73, of Forest City.
