Barbara Jolley


 

 

Lexington, S.C. — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Barbara R. Jolley, affectionately known as “Sis,” born on March 26, 1940, in Gaffney, SC. Barbara peacefully transitioned on May 6, 2025, in her residence of 40 years in Lexington, South Carolina. A spirited and adventurous woman, Barbara led a life full of resilience and creativity, traits that endeared her to all those who had the privilege to know her.

Barbara was a devoted Christian and a long-time member of the Red Bank Baptist Church. She was an embodiment of the verse 1 Corinthians 16:14, “Let all that you do be done in love.” This was evident in her dedication to her family, friends, and community. Barbara had a fulfilling career as a clerk with the US Postal Service before she retired. Her adventurous spirit extended to her hobbies, which were as diverse as her love for horses, farming, gardening, and canning. Barbara also sewed. She was known for sewing formal drapes at the request of interior designers that she knew. As a resilient woman, she bore the responsibilities of raising cattle and decorating cakes, including wedding cakes. Barbara also found joy in square dancing, a testament to her spirited personality. Her creativity was displayed in her youth when she ran track and played basketball in high school, showcasing her athletic abilities.

Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Marvin and Allie Randolph. She was the beloved wife of the late Billy Joe Jolley and later, the late David Burkett. Her memory will be treasured by her loving children, Laura Jolley and Lane Jolley (Kim). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Katelyn Jolley and John Jolley. Barbara will also be fondly remembered by her brothers, George Randolph and Johnny Randolph.

The visitation will take place on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 4:00pm, at the Red Bank Baptist Church, 1357 S. Lake Drive, Lexington, South Carolina, 29073. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 5:00pm. The burial will occur on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00am at Frederick Memorial Gardens, 986 Chesnee Highway, Gaffney, South Carolina, 29341. Services are under the direction of Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Red Bank Baptist Church, Men’s Ministry. The Red Bank Baptist Church Men’s Ministry helps seniors and those with disabilities.
