Cowpens, SC — Lawrence Bernell Motts, 78, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Pacolet, he was the husband of the late Lynne Messer Motts and the son of the late Lawrence Motts and Mary Ridings Motts. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served his country in The Korean War and was a retired Cowpens City Police Officer. He loved all animals, especially his horses, enjoyed watching westerns, and his favorite actor was John Wayne. Mr. Motts had a great love for his family, was especially proud of his grandchildren and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving is a son, Larry Floyd (Gina) of Spartanburg; two daughters, Marlena Motts Adair (Noah) of Chesnee and Ami Odom (Billy) of Cowpens; eight grandchildren, Kyle Brown, Morgan Odom, Luke Floyd, Brice Odom, Austin Vause, Kyle Brown, Lola Adair, Lily Adair and Liam Adair; two great-grandchildren, Addison Brown and Easton Brown. Mr. Motts was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Slayton; and a granddaughter, Katie Floyd.

The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 2:00PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
