Carolyn Atkins


 

 

Spartanburg, SC — Carolyn Anna Reynolds Atkins, 96, of 413 Spruce Street, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Ralph Smith Atkins and daughter of the late James Earl Reynolds and Irene Fitzgerald Reynolds. She was a graduate of Gaffney High School and Shelby Beauty College. She was the owner/operator of Carol Ann’s Beauty Shop in the White Plains Community in Gaffney and retired after 24 years of service. She also retired from textiles after 25 years of service. Carolyn’s home church was White Plains Baptist Church in Gaffney where she taught the Beginner’s Sunday School class and she was a current member of Davis Memorial Baptist Church in Spartanburg.

She is survived by a brother, Jack Steven Reynolds of Gaffney; a sister, Idelle R. Webster of Gaffney; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews who she loved dearly. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris R. Hood, Helen R. Pack and Martha R. Ward and two brothers, Gilbert Reynolds and Paul Reynolds.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday, June 30, 2025 at White Plains Baptist Church, 206 Soap Stone Road, Gaffney, SC 29340. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00AM at the Church with Pastor Gerold Thomas and Reverend Michael Boyter officiating. Interment will be in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at their respective homes.
