Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler says a Gaffney man was killed in a two vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon. Fowler identified the victim as Ladson Bennett Wilkie, 20, of 284 Dry Fork Road.
Wilkie was the driver and lone occupant of a 2012 Hyundai that was headed south on Pacolet Highway around 2:30 p.m. when he struck the rear of another vehicle also headed south.
“After impact, Wilkie’s vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the roadway overturning several times before coming to rest,” Fowler said. “Wilkie was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.”
Wilkie was transported to Spartanburg Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival, Fowler said.
An autopsy will be performed Wednesday to assist with the coroner’s investigation of the fatal crash.
