Grady Phillips


Cowpens, SC — Grady Ray Phillips, 95, of 6230 Cannons Campground Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was first married to the late Frances Clary Phillips, the husband of Ann Eubanks Phillips, the son of the late Walter Graham Phillips and Eula Mae Lawing Phillips Smith, and the stepson of the late Gene Smith. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and retired from textiles. Grady was a former member of West End Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and a current member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He loved his family, golf, and was a charter member of Cherokee National Golf and Recreational Club. He also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Surviving is a son Randy Phillips (Gail) of Gaffney; two stepdaughters, Geraldine Green Forman (Ronnie) of Duncan and Cathy Hughey (Phil) of Florida; three stepsons, Johnny Green (Debbie) of Lake Murray, Steve LeCroy (Pat) and Walt LeCroy, Jr. (Angie), both of Gaffney; a sister, Dorene Riley of Spartanburg; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Green and two brothers, Reverend Charles Phillips and J. C. Phillips.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Macedonia Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at the Church with Dr. Terry Duvall, Reverend Bryon McIntyre and Dr. Clyde Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
