Gaffney, SC — Lillie Katherine Ruppe Mathis Fannin, 81, of 1104 S. Limestone Street Extension, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, she was first married to the late Barney Dean Mathis, the widow of the late Lewis Kenneth “L. K.” Fannin, and daughter of the late Claude R. Ruppe and Lollie Harvey Ruppe. She was a homemaker, retired from Nestle, a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, and attended Temple Baptist Church. Katherine loved her Lord and family, traveling and spending time with friends and her circle group at church.

She is survived by three sons, Joseph Mathis (Malissa) of Gaffney, David Mathis (Amy) of Simpsonville and Michael Mathis of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Katherine Jane Mathis, Jordan Joseph Mathis and Lauren Malissa Mathis; a brother, Claude Ruppe, Jr. (Carolyn) of Woodruff; numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Glenn R. Ruppe and a sister, Betty Champion.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jody McGaha, Reverend Andy Cooper and Mr. Joseph Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at their respective homes.
