Gaffney, SC — Mack Lee Davis, 83, of Gaffney, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Spartanburg Medical Center.
Mack was born on January 8, 1942 to Fred X. Davis and Jessie Blackwell Davis in Mooresboro, NC. He attended Gaffney schools. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force and was very proud to serve as crew chief on a C-130 aircraft. He was employed by Pitney-Bowes and held assignments with them in Rock Hill, SC; Dallas, TX; and San Francisco, CA. At the time of his retirement from Pitney- Bowes, he was Region Technical Engineer with an area of responsibility stretching from the Mississippi River to Hawaii. He grew up on a Cherokee County farm in a blended family totaling 10 children. He was a talented artist and a member of the Cherokee Alliance of Visual Arts. Mack was also a member of Sons of The Confederacy. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed deer hunting, horseback riding and, throughout most of his life, had a well-trained dog following him. He loved nature and supported soil and water conservation through his artwork. On the back of each of his painting, he included a note promoting soil, water and wildlife conservation. He donated many pieces of art to organizations for their fundraising, including Limestone College, US Veteran’s Admin., SC Wildlife, and SC Soil & Water Conservation.
Mack is survived by one brother, Frank G. Davis (Michi), Mareno Valley, CA; one sister, Nancy Davis Reynolds, Concord, NC. He was predeceased by a sister, Marian Davis Packard, Mooresboro, NC; brothers, T. Hoyle Davis, Shelby, NC; Russel S. Davis, Shelby, NC; Leonard L. Davis, Mooresboro, NC, H. Kenneth Davis, Greenville, SC; Fred L. Davis, Costa Mesa, CA and Thomas J. (Tom) Davis, Gaffney, SC.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Mack’s special grandson Winfred Wyatt and his wife Ashley for their love and dedication to his care.
There will be no services. Burial will be private.
