Blacksburg, SC — Patricia “Patsy” Borders Batchelor Tingley, 94, of 202 E. Ramseur Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Piedmont Medical Center Fort Mill surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 25, 1931 in Cleveland County, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Irvin and Macie Viola Hullender Borders and beloved wife of the late Alfred Gwynne Tingley and the late Arnold Lavaughan Batchelor, Sr. She was a member of Blacksburg First Baptist Church and the Jabez Sunday School Class.
Patsy is survived by her son, Dr. Arnold Lavaughan Batchelor, Jr. (Michelle) of Fort Mill, SC; three grandchildren, Courtney Batchelor Potts (Harrison) of Rock Hill, SC, Jordan Arnold Batchelor (Hannah) of Fort Mill, SC, and Hunter Lynn Batchelor Oxford (Meg) of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Frances Borders Faulkenberry of Greenville, SC. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Batchelor Oxford, two sisters, Billie Borders White and Fannie Sue Borders Stacy, and a brother, Dennis Irvin Borders.
Patsy grew up in Blacksburg, graduated from Blacksburg High School and Kings College in Charlotte, NC with a degree in business. She was employed by the Cherokee County School District and worked at Blacksburg High School for 44 years as a bookkeeper and secretary to the principal. She was a member of the S. C. Professional Educational Office Personnel Association and the National Professional Educational Office Personnel Association.
Patsy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and daughter. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, her family, church, gardening and decorating. To her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren she leaves behind, she has been an embodiment of unconditional love, wisdom and nurturing and will forever remain their inspiration.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Blacksburg First Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at the Church with Dr. Wayne Brown officiating. A private family interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Blacksburg First Baptist Church, 103 South Rutherford Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702 or to a charity of one’s choice.
The family will be at their respective homes.
