June 22, 1950 – May 7, 2025
Roger James Coffey moved to his heavenly home on May 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Affectionately known as “Mr. C” by his beloved wife, Cheryl, Roger faced several years of declining health with strength and determination. A true fighter, he never lost his love for life.
Roger was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles and dirt bikes. He especially cherished his time on the trails of Brown Mountain—an area where he grew up and joyfully returned to in his 40s and 50s. These adventures were shared with his brothers Kenneth and Tony Coffey, and his nephews Little Tony, Dennis and Trent Coffey, and Travis Coffey.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, James Madison Coffey and Bonnie -Austin Coffey; his brother, Ricky Coffey; his son, Doug Hambright; and his great-grandson, Braden James Lucas.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Cheryl Martin Coffey; his children, Jennifer Coffey-Fuaga (and Jacob) and Christy Osborne (and Thomas); and his cherished grandchildren:
• Grandsons: Brett Lucas (and Taylor), Preston Osborne (and Neveah), Hunter Osborne, Lane Osborne, and Hayden Hambright
• Granddaughters: Jessica Vickers, Kali Coffey-Fuaga, and Mia Osborne
Great Granddaughter: Ivory Lucas
Roger is also survived by his siblings:
• Sisters: Sandra Brown and Renee Blanton (and Larry)
• Brothers: Tony Coffey (and Merle), Kenneth Coffey (and Deeda), Dennis Coffey (and Sandra), Elbert Steward, Ricky Martin and Curtis Martin (and Janet)
• As well as many nieces and nephews, including Tony, Trent, Dennis, Tiffany Coffey-Clontz, Hannah Coffey Rabe, Heather Coffey-Eversley, Tonya Laws, Tammy, and Tracy Brown.
He held a special place in his heart for many dear friends and extended family, including Jeremy Osborne, Todd and Gina McBride, Aaron and Austin McBride, and his lifelong friend, Nicki Hook.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to remember the remarkable life of a man who gave so much love, laughter, and adventure to those around him.
