Luther Vaughan Elementary won the Spirit Award after the students and staff were decked out Friday for a parade of athletes to start the annual Area 12 Special Olympics involving schools in Cherokee and Spartanburg counties. In 2016, student enrollment was 1,225, according to information supplied to The Ledger by the school. The tuition revenue was $32,529,042, which led to a budget surplus of $1,220,696. Expenses that year totaled $51.6 million. […]
