Gaffney, SC — Ruth Garland Greene, 92, of 906 8th Street, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Spartanburg Medical Center.
Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Teddy Donald Greene and daughter of the late Millard Harrison Garland and Nettie Wyatt Garland. She retired from Hoechst Fibers and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She loved her family, flower gardening and canning.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Jimmy Eugene Atkins (Janine) of Lenoir, NC; two daughters, Carolyn Ruth Hall (Evans) and Elizabeth Ann Jolly (Stanley), both of Gaffney; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Obie Edward Garland and Millard Lee Garland and three sisters, Virginia Huskey, Mildred Rippy and Judith Dover.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Andy Cooper and Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
